JD Institute of Fashion Technology is one of the most reputed colleges in India for Fashion Designing. The college is the educational division of the JD Trust and was founded on 12th October, 1988. The institute was ranked 10th in the field of Fashion Technology Education in India by India today and Nielson.

Recently an annual design awards show of JD Institute of Fashion Technology (JDIFT), was held where aspiring fashion designers of the city talked about their design philosophy and dynamics of the industry.
A 19-year-old fashion designer Soundarya Mishra, who graduated from JD Institute of Fashion Technology this year has managed to create a garment brand – Avatar, which custom designs garments and a Facebook page called ‘Avatar You’ where she showcases her designs.
At JD Institute’s annual design awards show, Soundarya’s designs highlighted the hidden emotions of a human beings. The layers of fabric in five creations of western ethnic designs presented the different human emotions. The young designer used leather belts, hanging dolls and artistic prints in her collection to convey this theme in Bhagalpuri silk fabric.
